'The Wanderer' is probably one of the finest and most inspired works by Belenger and not precisely because it is the last one. ‘The Wanderer’ contains the psychedelic version of the Finnish folk classic "Vaka Vanha Väinämöinen' plus the dark epic 'Alone I Wander', one of the most arresting tracks ever composed by J.Belenger.

The work opens gracefully with the lush intro ‘Arktos’ while ‘Runelord’ penetrates into a certain neofolk territory. The second part of the album has a more neo-classical-soundtrack tinge in it with titles such as 'Ariadne', 'In The Absence of Beauty' and 'Heroes Against The Dark Age'. Also traces of old school darkwave are present, for the last time, in tracks such as 'Spear of Woden (New Cold War Version)' and ‘Once Upon A Time In Rheinland’, a track which makes its second appearance after being featured in the now popular documentary ‘Hellstorm’ (2015) this time in a somewhat different version.

Anticipating the official demise of the project the evocative 'Life Before Dawn' closes the record with an obvious air of farewell. A nicely written epitaph. 'The Wanderer' is a superb testament for seven-odd years of Belenger’s artistic struggle as a musical entity. Do not let this music fade away.
